A New Country
A Quick Summary
After spending a few more days in Cusco, we hopped on a bus across the border to Bolivia, to a town called Copacabana (pictured above) which is on Lake Titicaca. We spent two nights there before another short bus ride to La Paz.
Highs and Lows
Hiking off the beaten path:
Before we left Peru, we went for a day hike to Vinicunca, also known as "rainbow mountain". The views were stunning, except the experience was dampened by the fact that the hike was overrun with tourists.

On the way back, Cam and I decided to try taking a different route down. We started to venture off the main trail, and within a few minutes we went from being in crowds of tourists to being completely by ourselves (except for a few alpacas) in the middle of the Andes.

Once we were in Bolivia, we also had the chance to hike around Isla del Sol, an island in the middle of Lake Titicaca. The Southern end of the island was a little touristy, so we spent most of the day exploring the beaches and ruins on the northern end of the island. I've really enjoyed getting to explore the different landscapes here without the crowds of people!
La Paz from above:
The city of La Paz is built into this massive valley, so they have cable cars as their public transportation system. Cam and I spent an afternoon riding around the city on different cable car lines. It was a neat experience to see the city from above. We were able to see this massive street market going on below, and we got some great views of the whole valley with the mountains in the background.
Food Review
Trout from Lake Titicaca: 10/10
Everything in Bolivia is relatively cheap, so we have been able to try some fancy food here. This trout we had (fresh from the lake) was some of the best fish I've eaten, and definitely the fanciest $12 meal I've had in my life.
